A volte arriva il buio

For the contest “Lucca Junior 2024 – Editorial Illustration Prize Livio Sossi” here are two illustrations and the storyboard based on the text “A Volte Arriva Il Buio” by Francesco Morgando.

Darkness can be scary sometimes, especially if it comes suddenly. You can get to know him with courage and gradually discover all the magic he hides until you can’t wait to play with him again.

I graphically make the darkness very material, scratched: it shows more and more secrets and wonders of itself while growing friendship with the child protagonist.

The shadows, the contrast between full and empty spaces alternate between the games of the child and his faithful cat who, in the dark, knows very well where to put his paws!
